To make this great (but not so easy to mail) gardener’s gift, you’ll need two broom handles and one rectangular plastic window box (6-8" wide by a foot and a half or so long)... 

About two-thirds of the way from the tops of the handles, bore holes through them just large enough to insert a pivot-bolt to hold the handles together so that they can be operated scissor-fashion. Cut the plastic planter tray lengthwise down the middle to make two equal halves... Attach one to the inside of each handle - and there you have your no-stoop leaf scoop!
