Use a clean one-gallon tin can to make this efficient
chimney-style charcoal starter... (Naturally, one lid of the
can will already be cut off!) Punch holes all around the
bottom edge on the cylindrical sides of the can
(holes about an inch apart), using a triangular-punch can
opener. Attach a wire handle to the top of the can (like on
a paint can); or bolt on some sort of solid handle on one
side (i.e., a metal one - but you could bolt a wooden
handle onto that, so that it’s cooler to grasp when the
can is hot). That’s it...
The instructions are: Wad 2 sheets of newspaper loosely
at the bottom of the can, and pour charcoal in to fill it.
Light the newspaper through the holes at the bottom - when
the charcoal is aglow, dump the coals into the barbecue
(using hot pads to handle the handle!).
