This is a good idea for Christmas card recycling:
Gather up some colorful Christmas cards you’ve received
that you don’t mind cutting up (the pictures, that is) -
rather large ones... You’ll need 9 strips cut 8" long
and1/2" wide for each basket. Lay 8 of the strips face
down in a stardust (like wheel spokes, all crossing in the
center) - glue together each of the interstices at the
center. When that’s dry, cup it into a glass with the ends
sticking up... Glue the remaining strip around the outside
of the 8 spokes and flush with their ends - paperclip each
junction until the glue dries. ...Now you have a basket
shape - attach an 11" strip of stiff paper as the
handle.
These can be hung on the tree if there’s something
lightweight in them - or use them as gift wrappers, or as
party favor holders on the groaning board.
