CLOTHES
Of course, there are the clothes that you might find ready-to-wear,
either new or used. (Clothing is a little chancy to give as gifts -
sure hope you know what colors they can’t stand or that look atrocious
on them!; sizes; etc.) I’ve listed a number of clothing items that are
fairly easy to make, though, (see Instructions for
asterisked items) for those with the time, talent, and will...
-
Sock arm bibs
for toddlers - cut off the feet of new or only-worn-in-the-feet
mid-calf-height socks... to be used as arm protectors for messily
feeding young-uns
-
Toddler pants
or zip-suits made from recycled adult velour or knit shirts
-
Fringed
scarves (you can easily do the fringing - start with a square of a fine
woolen or wool-blend material... pull threads at the edges to make the
fringe)
-
Or possibly
crocheted or knitted fringed shawls
-
Mittens sewn
from shrunken woolen sweaters
-
Hats
(redecorated extant ones, knitted, crocheted, felted, sewn from
shrunken woolen sweaters, etc.)
-
Specifically,
a snowman hat: white, a snowman head created by tying a "scarf" around
a ball of stuffing at the top; embroider his simplistic face and sew on
an orange "carrot" nose, embroider 3 "coal buttons" below the scarf;
trim the opening of the hat with a fun red and green band
-
Aprons (guys
need them too - for barbecuing, baking, in the shop, etc.
-
Canvas
work/gardening gloves stenciled or painted with names/designs
-
Ties painted
or stenciled with artistic designs
