1 cup finely ground almonds or hazelnuts
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 tbsp. instant coffee
2 tsps. ground cardamom
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Beat the nuts, sugar, and butter together until rather
fluffy. Add in the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly;
then chill for an hour. Form tablespoonfuls into crescent
shapes and place onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350
degrees for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden; cool on
wire racks. (If you like, dip half of each crescent into
melted chocolate - or melted mocha-chocolate?... perhaps
sprinkling on some more coarsely-ground nuts.)
