Here's an Easter egg coloring technique that makes
beautiful patterns as on marbled paper: Place hot wax
"stoppers" over the blowing holes at either end of
the egg... Submerge the shell in a cup of water with a
little vinegar splashed into it. Holding it by the wax
stoppers, drop a few food coloring drops onto the still-wet
eggshell, twirling it about to make the drops run around the
shell in interesting patterns. Let them dry (a fan on low
speed would help); you can rinse away some of the color
under water to get a different effect. (Try metallic
paints on top of the food coloring for Christmas tree
ornaments?)
