Haven’t done this since grade school?... Wash
the egg off in rather hot water! Carefully poke a hole in
each end of a raw egg with a sturdy needle; enlarge the
holes with further pokes very gradually, to a
diameter of about a quarter of an inch, maximum. Stir the
egg up with your needle; then gently blow in one end while
holding the other end over a bowl... and keep blowing (and
re-stirring?) until all of the innards are out. Rinse the
egg out under the tap with warm water - you might have to
hold the needle in the hole to encourage the water to run in
(once in, shake the eggshell a bit to clean the inside
walls). Let it dry... and voilà! - a ready-to-decorate egg
(assuming it needs decoration). (And if you’re going to
use a lot of eggs, see if you can get some friends to
do some of this for you! - make them a big omelet each?)
To string them, use festive wire looped through both
holes, curling a looped holder at one end; or... Thread a
needle and drop it through one hole - eyeball it through the
opposite hole until you can drop it through that one
too (a fun challenge for you!). Use that thread as the
hanger, or sew it to a ribbon - a tiny circle of felt at
each end will hold the thread tight inside the egg.
