1 cup cold water
1 envelope (1/4 oz.) unflavored gelatin
3/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups hot water
1/2 cup mild laundry soap flakes
liquid tempera paint in various colors
Here’s how to make finger paint and save a
bundle… Stir the gelatin into 1/4 cup of the cold water in
a bowl. In a saucepan, stir the cornstarch into the rest of
the cold water until smooth, then add the hot water. Cook
over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture
comes to a boil and is clear and smooth. Remove from the
heat and stir in the gelatin mixture. Add the soap flakes
and stir until they’re completely dissolved. Separate this
base into small containers for each color of paint desired -
add1/2 tsp. tempera to1/2 cup of the base. Store tightly
sealed in a cool, dark place.
