OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS TREE...
INSTRUCTIONS:
Christmas Decorations for an Outdoor Tree for
the Critters
- Popcorn balls, perhaps studded with raisins
- Thin spirals of orange peel
- Dried apple rings
- Fresh orange slices (a good way to use not-so-fresh
oranges!)
- Tiny wreaths made of dried apple pieces threaded together
in a "bracelet"
- Wreath-shaped dried apple slices tied with a ribbon
- Garlands made from: popcorn, cranberries, dried bread
cubes, dried carrot slices, cereals (e.g., little O’s!),
those old dried-up marshmallows sitting in the back of the
cupboard
- Little peanut-butter cookie shapes (gingerbread men with
raisin eyes/buttons?)
- Tiny waffles (some Scandinavian waffle irons or Italian
pizzelle irons make perfect small shapes that you can wire
to branches)
- Stale bread slices cut into fun shapes
- Pretzels!
- Half-orange suet feeders (see "More Suet
Feeders" under Bird
houses/feeders)
- Ice cream cones filled with suet and seeds (or just seeds)
- Pine cones spread with peanut butter and rolled in
millet-type birdseed (fasten onto a sturdy branch with wire)
- Small sheaves of wheat
- Dried mushrooms (squirrels dry their own, did you know?)
(See
also Suet
for the Birds)
