1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tsps. orange zest (grated rind)
1/2 cup firm butter
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 tbsp. orange juice
Stir together flour, sugar, salt, and zest. Cut in butter
until crumbly and in small particles. Mix in the juice and
3/4 cup of the nuts. Press mixture into a lump and then
evenly into a greased baking dish (approximating a
7x11" pan). Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes until
pale golden. Cool slightly and sprinkle with the remaining
nuts (and a dusting of granulated sugar, if you like). Cut
into pieces as desired and cool completely in the pan before
removing them. (If you cut into about 1 1/4" squares,
it makes 4-5 dozen of them.)
