Storing
the Ornaments and Other Decorations
Christmas ornament storage - ah yes, a
sentimental time of saying goodbye to old friends as we wrap
them lovingly in tissue once again! Well, but as to the
practicalities...
- The storage containers I favor are put-it-together
cardboard chests of drawers. (I sort the ornaments by drawer
- birds in one, animals in another, orbs and icicles
together, angels and Santas/people together...) The drawers
are deep enough to hold bundles of strung lights, Christmas
stockings and tree skirt, etc., as well. And the whole
shebang is light enough to be easily carried down from and
up to the attic.
- Egg cartons are excellent for keeping tiny (especially
tiny fragile) ornaments corralled. (They just fit
into my cardboard chests of drawers too!)
- Molded
plastic holders of many rounded fruits (notably apples) are often sold
at stores like Costco... and make great storage for fragile larger
ornaments like glass balls.
- Liquor cartons and other partitioned boxes also make good
storage containers for fragile ornaments.
