Extending
the Life of a Cut Tree
- To help a cut tree absorb water, drill a narrow hole a few
inches up the middle of the trunk and pack it with cotton
balls to act as a wick. Add an aspirin to the water you fill
its stand with. (Aspirin helps keep cut flowers
"alive" longer too.)
- Ionic silver solution in the water, with its
bacteria/mold/fungi/etc.-killing power, also keeps the tree
- and its water - fresher. (Excellent for humans and
animals, too.)
- Pancake syrup added to the water keeps evergreen needles
green and moist (i.e., non-flammable!).

section for how to prepare these other aspects of Christmas tree
care...
